Stock Donation

A gift of stock to the Homeless Pets Foundation may allow you to realize significant tax benefits while receiving a charitable contribution deduction. While a gift of stock has many benefits, the most important benefit is knowing your gift will help the Homeless Pets Foundation provide life-saving services to people and animals in need. Contact your financial or legal advisor for more information about the benefits of a stock donation.

Stock gifts have several advantages over a cash donation:

  • When you donate stock that has grown in value since you bought it, you pay no capital gains tax.
  • You can give more to Homeless Pets at less cost to yourself.
  • You can take a tax deduction for the appreciated value of the donated stock.

Please ensure that you have owned the stock for at least 366 days in order to take the full deduction.

How to Donate Stock :

Contact Anne Reed at annereed@charter.net. Provide us with your name, address, phone, the name of the stock, number of shares, and the date you intend to make the gift. This ensures delivery and helps us provide you with the receipt you need for tax purposes. Contact your broker to request an electronic transfer of your stock to Homeless Pets Foundation.
