The Homeless Pet Foundation is a 501(c)3 organization that saves the lives of homeless cats and dogs in Atlanta area animal shelters and promotes the benefits of pet ownership. The organization was founded in 1998 by Dr. Michael Good, an Atlanta-based veterinarian who saw a need and started recruiting volunteers to help him spread the word about the many loving, adoptable pets in dire situations in overcrowded shelters.
In the Atlanta area, more than 100,000 animals are destroyed yearly because of the lack of a home. The foundation works to prevent these senseless deaths through necessary medical care, foster care, and adoption services.
