We love our volunteers and adopters. So when a couple who volunteers with us adopted from us, we were over the moon!
Volunteers Jackie and Kenny help us wrangle, exercise and showcase our dogs at mobile adoption events. When you’re hands on with the dogs on a regular basis you get to know them well. Sometimes you can’t stop thinking about them and that’s what happened when Kenny and Jackie met Cledus. Cledus is a big baby who demands lots of attention. Shelter life is …hard for all animals but Jackie and Kenny felt especially bad when they had to send Cledus back to his cage at the end of the day.
Thanks to them, they found room in their home and hearts for one more dog and Cledus is now getting all the babying he wants!
Jackie sent pictures and this update:
“The first time I met Cledus ( now Chip) while volunteering, there was an instant connection. I know it sounds weird, but after spending time with him and training him I felt like he chose me, honestly. After volunteering week after week I just fell in love with him. He’s such a good boy, and learns very quickly!! His favorite things to do are hike trails and be picked up! lol ”
Dr. Phil Good, owner of Town & Country Veterinary Clinic, received his Bachelor of Science with highest honors in Chemical Engineering from Georgia Tech in 2006. Phil finally came to his senses, realizing he’d much rather work with animals than in a chemical plant. Dr. Good obtained his doctorate in veterinary medicine from UGA in 2011.
We’ve got the warm fuzzies about this adoption. We pulled Star from Cobb County Animal Control because they were full. Star’s a shy and sweet 70-lb gal. She never made a peep at adoption events or in her cage at the shelter. Happily, her gentle manner caught the eye of this family who sent us…
Saturday’s Dog Olympics were fun, and fruitful for Astro who got a home out of the deal! Thanks for everyone who came out to participate. We had some pooped volunteers and worn-out dog athletes afterward — it was all worthwhile. Congrats Astro! Thank you for adopting!
Cheeto’s new mom and dad are smitten. They say that he’s the best cat they ever had, he’s spoiled and gets to eat dinner in bed sometimes, and is working on his fishing skills (for the fishies sake we hope he doesn’t succeed!). It’s a happy ending for us and a happy beginning for them.
