This family, who wasn’t intending to adopt, happened to stop by our adoption event as they passed us to run errands. Daphne, (left) caught their eye and they thought she’d make a good playmate for their retriever (right).
Daphne was supposed to have already been put back in her kennel downstairs and another dog brought up instead because we rotate showing adoptable dogs at our Saturday events. But volunteers had gotten busy and forgotten to take Daphne back. So, we’re chalking this one up to fate!
Thanks to the impromptu stop at HPF and to Daphne staying out longer than planned, this family is now complete! Daphne not only gets this great group as her own but a big yard and pool that she’s looking forward to jumping into come spring.
Dr. Phil Good, owner of Town & Country Veterinary Clinic, received his Bachelor of Science with highest honors in Chemical Engineering from Georgia Tech in 2006. Phil finally came to his senses, realizing he’d much rather work with animals than in a chemical plant. Dr. Good obtained his doctorate in veterinary medicine from UGA in 2011.
Lex (pup on right) went home with a family a couple of months ago. Dad was adamant that Lex retain his foster status and not become dog # 2. Lex first won over Gus, the family’s dog who’s an HPF alumnus. Brother, then mom were next to fall under the spell of Lex’s charms. Dad…
Congratulation to Cornsilk who generated a lot of interest because of his extreme cuteness but was a bit tricky to place because of his quirks. He was rescued from a hoarder and did NOT have a happy life there. As a result he fears women, children and things that go bump in the night. Enter…
Patty was rescued by one of our volunteers just hours before she was scheduled to be euthanized. She was pregnant and delivered her babies just two days after being rescued. Her foster mom was lucky enough to witness the births. It didn’t take long for Parker, Punkin, Paige, and Piper to get adopted once they…
Willow’s new family has her decked out in style! She’s now called Olive and will be doted on by a mom and pop, two teenage sisters and two preteen brothers. That should make for one VERY spoiled former shelter dog! Thank you so much for adopting this perky pup!
Occasionally we rescue a dog who struggles to be adoption-ready. Their bad prior life rendered them tricky to re-home. Harley was part of a neglect/hoarding case. She’d been kept in poor conditions for so long that when we rescued her, she had no idea how to respond. As a result, some of our volunteers walked…
We’d taken in an older dog who had a laundry list of quirks. We felt the stars would have to align in order for us to find the right adopter. We fretted. We texted. We reached out to other rescue groups and tried to call in favors from friends who owed us one. We were…
